Hetton Lyons Cricket Club

As Secretary of the Durham Sunday Football League like all I’m saddened that Hetton Lyons Cricket Club are calling it a Day. I will be honest and say that Some Clubs in the League have hated the way Hetton have won trophies over the years, and others how it been a pleasure to play against them.
Me personally I am very proud to have had a Club like Hetton Lyons Cricket Club in the Durham Sunday Football League. Hetton Have had 17 fantastic seasons in the Durham Sunday Football League. As well as winning all of the Leagues domestic cups that they could have played in they have the FA Sunday Cup four times (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012), the Durham FA County Cup seven times (01, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 14) also the Durham and District Premier League 13 out of 17 seasons. This is a Very impressive record, at a Sunday League level I cannot ever see any other Team beating this.
The FA Sunday Cup Record of wins in the Final reads like this
2005–06 Hetton Lyons Cricket Club 5–3 St Joseph's (Luton)
2007–08 Hetton Lyons Cricket Club 3–2 Coundon Conservative
2009–10 Hetton Lyons Cricket Club 4–2 Manget Tavern
2011-12 Hetton Lyons Cricket Club 5-1 Canada
From the early Days when they were managed by Brad Groves, then Jason Ainsley and Finally Stuart Gooden they have always been a credit to the League.
Hetton Lyons Cricket Club Have raised the Durham Sunday Football League Profile to being one of the Best Sunday Morning Leagues in the Country.
Dave Leitch and Wayne Kendle to very good club secretaries have served the Lyons in this Time along with Stuart Lloyd in the background.
Hetton Have produced some great players Jason Ainsley, Gavin Cogdon, Stephen Capper, Anthony Peacock and Keith Graydon who have all won player of the Year in the League.
The Name of Hetton Lyons Cricket Club will always be remembered in the Leagues History.
