Paul Taylor bagged a hat-trick for Ushaw, with Jamie Gregg also netting. Ferryhill Community Hub pipped Bishop Middleham 4-3 in a topsy-turvy game. Kyle Quinn (2), Niall Keelty and Neil Birbeck struck for Hub, who led 1-0 before trailing 2-1. Jonathan Hornsby, star man Jonathan Smith and Jon Steel netted for Bishop. Lumley Snooker Club were good 4-1 victors at Newton Hall Jovial Monk in Division Three. David Wile fired Monk ahead from a set piece, but Mick Carroll equalised with a well-taken lob. Monk could not get their passing game going and Lumley capitalised, with James Laidler’s double and a debut goal from sub Danny Grant doing the damage. Bowburn were too strong for hosts Sedgefield SC in a 6-2 away triumph. Adam Birks grabbed a fine hat-trick, with Ben Johnson, Sean McGrail and an own goal making it six. Craig Hill starred. In Division One, Ferryhill Celtic maintained their unbeaten record and closed within two points of leaders Hilda Park following a 2-0 victory at struggling Whitehills.

Wild Boar’s own goal shocker sees Pelaw Grange Dogs through in County Cup drama

Houghton Wild Boar All-Stars cruelly conceded a last-minute own goal to send visitors Pelaw Grange Dogs through to the first round of the Durham County Sunday Cup. Boar were kicking themselves, having been 2-0 ahead after only 20 minutes. Chris Rogerson fed a defence-splitting pass through to David Banks, whose ball into the penalty area was knocked in by a Pelaw defender for an own goal. Karl Anderson then finished off a great move by chipping the goalkeeper for Boar’s second. However, Pelaw fought back into the game and levelled at the break, thanks to Bri Allen and Dan Igo. The second half was end to end, but, on 89 minutes, and with the game looking to be heading for a penalty shoot-out, a hopeful lob into Boar’s box was met by Joe Robinson. With no-one near him, he dived to head the ball and, to the astonishment of his team-mates, nodded into his own net to hand the game to Pelaw. Grange Villa defeated Peterlee Central Club 4-2 to reach the first round proper for the first time. Fidele Doguie converted Ben Jefferson’s cross, then Dean Turnbull collected a neat Danny Hill pass before turning and shooting home. Turnbull headed home Gareth Bowen’s cross to go 3-0 up. New Brancepeth WMC enjoyed a thrilling 5-3 win over Premier outfit Chilton WMC in the Castle Insurance Alan Smith Memorial Trophy. Chilton capitalised on a mistake to go ahead, but Anthony Bussey’s outstanding volley levelled it up. Mark Hughes added a second after great work from John Kidd, but Chilton hauled themselves all square. Adam Purvis got lucky with a shot which deflected in off a defender to put Brancepeth 3-2 ahead, but Chilton responded strongly to force extra time. Sub Anthony Holliday inspired Brancepeth in the extra half hour, pulling a cross back for Bussey to score. Bussey added a killer fifth from the penalty spot after Hughes was tugged in the box as he went one on one with the keeper. Stephen Ferguson, Curt Pickford and an own goal counted for Chilton. West Rainton finished convincing 4-1 winners in their tie at Durham County, who complained about a goal being awarded from a free-kick taken too quickly and from the wrong place. Premier side Newton Aycliffe Locomotion were too strong for Chester 18Seven, running out 5-0 winners. 18Seven had good spells and chances but could not beat visiting keeper Barry Poskett. In the Fourth Division, Durham Rangers secured a 2-0 win at Sacriston The Shoes to climb to sixth place. Rangers dominated for a good hour and their pressure paid off with goals from Mitchell Brewster and sub Andrew Foster, with Callum Gritton star man. Newcomers Lambton Lions rose to top spot thanks to a fine 6-2 victory over previously unbeaten leaders Bearpark WMC. Newton Hall Jovial Monk secured their first Division Three win, at the seventh attempt, beating Hetton New Inn 6-2 to move off the bottom. David Grindley scored a belter of an opener after a fine move, then a fine solo run and finish from the returning Matthew Williams made it two. Hetton replied from a corner, but Afshin Liaghi’s penalty and a David Wile strike got Monk in total control. Wes Moat and star man Williams extended the lead before New Inn grabbed a second goal in stoppage time. Hilda Park enjoyed a 4-1 First Division success at home to Framwellgate Moor WMC to stay in top spot. Sam Plant fired the visitors’ reply, with Chris Pattinson star man. Ferryhill Celtic came from behind to defeat Houghton Chilton Lodge 4-2 to sit third. Lodge grabbed a first-half lead only to be pegged back just before the break, with Dane Eltringham netting. Kyle Wren put Celtic in front, but Lodge levelled, though further strikes from Jonathan Agar and Luke Thompson sealed the home victory. Andrew Bowes and Adam Hinde hit Lodge’s goals. Washington Cross Keys romped home 5-0 at Whitehills to move into second spot. The home keeper made a series of good saves to keep the score line blank at half-time, but Keys were clinical after the restart.
After weeks on Cup Duty Hilda Park Finally back to the league campaign after what has seemed weeks since our last league fixture. Framwellgate moor were the visitors today, although still early doors this was a top of the table clash. With only 13 players to choose from, players missing from last week were fortunate enough to go straight back into the starting 11. With 8 players missing due to various reasons that made selection that much easier but as the season goes on, 8 missing is not a good. We lined up 442 in formation, David "Mags" McGuire making his long awaited debut since transferring over and being cup tied. Similar to most games we start slow, however we didn’t allow fram any chances early on and looked comfortable. A quick change in shape saw Jamie just play in the 10 role to stop there 352 formations. We shod of been 2 up when chances weren't converted from firstly Jamie Gordon and then Sam Henderson. Fram keeper saving well both times. Fram had a lot of the ball without hurting our back four. On 22mins a great ball from full back Trevena saw the ball smashed into his own net from the fram centre half. 1-0. Jamie and Chips were causing all sorts of problems going forward. On 28mins In particular great flank play from Sam Henderson saw him pick out Chips back post where he kept the ball alive to cushion the ball down for Jamie to nod home. quickly followed on 30mins converting from the penalty spot goals to make it 3-0. Fram pulled one back from decent link up play from the fram attack to slot home well from 18yards. We were dealt lifeline when with 1 min left of the half saw the fram centre half miss a huge chance from 5 yards out when he headed over the bar.

The second half was a scrappy affair. Fram having better of the play but not really causing problems. That was mainly down to the performance from GK Lee Henderson Dominating the box and winning every ariel battle. Strong heads and good decision making was a huge positive to note. Excellent starting positions eased pressure off the back four saw Lee calmly gather the through ball option. With seconds 90mins +4min left to play a great through ball from Aaron saw chips beat the stranded GK for him to try and foul him. Chips however picked himself up off the floor and neatly find Jamie to make it 4-1, and his second consecutive hat trick .... Game over.

A scrappy affair, arguably fram were the better side. However sometimes them games are more satisfying to win when you work so hard off the ball, play average but still score 4 goals. With 8 players missing, one making their debut I think this goes down as our biggest win of the season so far. Great work ethic proves you can be rewarded with a win. Final score

Houghton Chilton Lodge finally got three points on the board in Division One

Houghton Chilton Lodge finally got three points on the board in Division One, thanks to an impressive 7-2 demolition of Whitehills. The hosts rocked Lodge by scoring twice inside 10 minutes, thanks to Ryan Grayson and Bradley Graham. But Lodge rose to the challenge, as Whitehills self-destructed, and a hat-trick from Iain Macpherson led the way as the visitors romped to victory, hitting seven unanswered goals. Andrew Bowes added a double, with star man Adam Hinde and Andy Macpherson sealing the rout. Joe Whelan stood out for Whitehills. Waldridge Park consolidated third place in the Premier Division with a comfortable 6-2 win over Sacriston WMC, their fourth victory in six games. Sacriston’s good start brought an opener from Chris Mordue, but Chris Days’ 25-yarder wrong footed keeper Liam Summers to level. The pivotal moment came just before half-time as David Wardle was sent off for a foul from behind on Park’s Adam Campbell Bell. Waldridge capitalised on the restart as Bell, set up by Joe Hughes, fired home. Tom Winter equalised with a 25-yard stormer, but Bell finished off good work from Jamie Taylor to restore the home lead. Hughes then took charge, grabbing a quick hat-trick, with Bell and centre-back Dan Barrass the providers. Chester 18Seven Bar fended off Houghton Wild Boar All-Stars 3-2 in an entertaining Second Division clash to go top of the table. Pittington and Ouston Juniors served up a 3-3 cracker in Division Three. Ouston pressed well and played with a good quick tempo, but Pittington dug in and bagged two quickfire goals before skipper Cal Winship’s free-kick reduced the deficit at half-time. Pittington looked to have sealed it when they restored their two-goal advantage, but Ouston showed great heart to level, Chris Pickersgill pulling one back before sub Nathan Morley equalised at the death. Carl Moxon starred. Lambton Lions secured a tight 2-1 Fourth Division win at Sacriston The Shoes to go top of the table. Star man Robert Loraine and Liam Bain did the damage. Durham Rangers edged a 2-0 victory in an even derby at Durham Buffaloes Head. The deadlock was broken in a goalmouth scramble. Buffaloes, with Ryan Mundell starring, had the majority of possession but again failed to make the most of their chances. Late on, a deflected shot wrongfooted Gregg Remmer to seal Rangers’ win. Chester Garden Farm edged through 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 derby finish at Pelaw Grange Dogs in the JD Taxis Guards Cup. Garden Farm took the lead from a corner when Adam Goodyear’s free header beat keeper Craig Bain. Dogs upped their game but missed a first-half penalty before they got level when Ryan Lancaster finished from close range after great work from Connor Grieveson down the left. In extra time, Dogs went ahead when David Jeffers shot home from distance, but slack defensive play let Scott Howe in to level with a good strike. Ross Elliott, Ryan Johnson and Bailey Hunter all converted their penalties in the shoot-out and three good saves from Jack Wilson saw Farm through. Macauley Smith was star man. Holders Burnside WMC enjoyed a comfortable JD Taxis Guards Cup victory at Newton Hall Jovial Monk, finishing 11-2 winners. Ross Stoker opened the scoring and further goals from Robbie Richardson, Jon Jordison, Kriss Jobling and a coolly finished Stephen Gamble penalty set Burnside on their way to victory. Stoker’s second strike and a five-goal salvo from star man Grant Craig finished the game in style. Hetton New Inn won through a tough, fair tie by beating Lumley 2-0. Kieron Hartill slotted home a penalty for the opening goal after a defender handled the ball in the box. Jordan Knox made it 2-0 after keeper Michael Gowland couldn’t keep out a low shot at his near post. Craig Hughes starred for New Inn, Simon Cossar for Lumley. Hilda Park roared back from two goals down to demolish Sedgefield SC 7-2. A 25-yard chip and a six-yard finish had Sedgefield on top, with Chris Jordan and Daniel Archer the scorers, and Hilda suffered the loss of Ross Kind to a nasty clash of heads. A four-hour hospital wait ended with a diagnosis of concussion. Hilda, though, levelled by half-time, with Craig Thompson and Jamie Gordon netting directly from free-kicks. Hilda bossed the second half after a formation change, with Gordon unplayable alongside Ross Watson up front. James Hudspeth scored twice, with man of the match Gordon hitting three more to make it four in the game, including a memorable strike when his quick feet beat four players in the six-yard box and finishing well. Depleted Bearpark WMC put up a good show before going down 4-1 to New Brancepeth WMC. Tommy Clark struck for the hosts from a free-kick to trail 2-1, but John Kidd’s hat-trick and a Mark Hughes goal won the day for the visitors. Washington Cross Keys showed their First Division class in an 8-0 romp at Witton Gilbert Club, scoring some fine goals in the process. Paul Finnigan shone for Witton. Physical West Rainton overpowered youthful Durham County, squeezing home 2-1 in a tight showdown. The game was decided on a controversial moment, the referee awarding a goal for Rainton when County claimed they had cleared the ball off the line. Shaun Wilson netted County’s goal, but Chris Brown and Graeme Brenkley steered Rainton through, with John Horn starring. East Rainton eventually beat Bowburn 4-0 to make progress in the League Cup, though they were flattered by the margin of victory. Bowburn perhaps edged the first half but it remained goalless. Rainton’s brighter second half, despite Bowburn twice firing just over the bar, brought goals from Lee Gaunt (2), James Wood, with a superb free-kick, and sub Alex Cogle in the final 15 minutes. Adam Birks shone. Premier side Newton Aycliffe Locomotive had to scrap for a 2-1 interval lead before running out 6-1 winners at Bede Lodge SC. Right-back Dave Pratt scored a stunning goal to get Bede back to 2-1 as they held their own in the first half, and keeper Jordan Craggs was outstanding, but Loco had two-goal Connor Hughes, Gavin Wilson, Stuart Owen, Danny Mellanby and Mark Wood all on the scoresheet. Ouston improved, but Pelton were always too good and goals from Gyan McMillan, Kevin Dixon, Craig Mickle, Michael Graver and Scott McArdle saw them through. Ryan Drummond starred for Tree, with Ben Addison best for Buffs.
