PELTON Crown sealed the Third
Division championship, enjoying a 4-2 win in their final away game against a
good Belmont The Shoes side who did not lie down.Pelton rushed to a
3-0 lead at half-time, thanks to a hat-trick from prolific scorer Liam
Mitchell.Just after the interval, Scott Simpson made it four, but Belmont
battled back as Crown took their foot off the pedal and pulled two goals back.
The visitors had a couple of scares before crossing the line to win
their first league title. Mark Foster was star man for the new champions.
Ferryhill Celtic grabbed the derby bragging rights with an 8-0
demolition of Ferryhill Community Hub, which clinched promotion in second place
in the process.
Doubles from man of the match Liam Pearson, Andrew Agar and Luke
Thompson were supported by strikes from Shane Todd and Dan Mitton.
On Tuesday, Ferryhill Celtic handed out a 7-1 defeat to hosts Pelton
Crown, with four-goal Luke Thompson leading the way as the champions suffered
only their second defeat.
Andrew Agar, Connor Pearson and Shane Todd also weighed in, with Scott
Simpson replying.Steven Shaw starred for Crown, Jason White for Celtic.
Ferryhill Celtic wound up a busy April, with their 12th game of the
month, on Thursday, handing out a 9-2 beating to Kelloe Davy Lamp.
Agar fired a hat-trick, backed by Todd (2), White, Thompson, Brett
Maughan and Chris Devine.
