Kriss bliss leads the way for rampant Burnside

Burnside WMC did not have to get out of second gear to overwhelm Ferryhill Community Hub 9-0 in the first round of the Durham City Smiles League Cup

Kriss Jobling started the rout from Max Stoker’s set-up in just 30 seconds, then Jobling headed home an inch-perfect Craig Ellison cross.

Stoker added a third from an acute angle before Jobling completed his hat-trick. Ellison grabbed a 10-minute hat-trick to make it seven, then added his fourth before a curler from outside the box by Jack Cains finished the game off.

Framwellgate Moor WMC won through 2-1 at home to Houghton Wild Boar All-Stars, who squandered a host of chances.

Fram, whose marksmen were Ian Field and Jack Rutter, led at the break, then doubled their advantage midway through the second period, capitalising on catching a defender in possession. Rob Thompson reduced the deficit, but the closest Boar came to an equaliser was when Craig Fletcher struck the upright from close range. Home keeper James Rutherford was outstanding, with Liam Lusk best for Boar.

New Brancepeth produced an outstanding performance, knocking out Premier stalwarts Newton Aycliffe WMC 5-2 after extra time.

Warren Byrne and Kieran Megran struck for Aycliffe, but Brancepeth were magnificent, even upping their game to stun their visitors in a sensational extra 30 minutes, with Ricky Box, Adam Purvis, Robbie Barrass, Anthony Holliday and Anthony Bussey their marksmen. Keeper Philip Pouton was man of the match.

Houghton Town outgunned visitors Ouston Cherry Tree 7-1.

Premier club Town bagged an early goal, only for Reece Hutchinson to level on eight minutes, after good work from star man Mick Ross.

Ouston continued to compete well for the first period, trailing only 2-1 to a disputed penalty at half-time, but they collapsed in the second half, with Steven Wood sent off to add to their misery.

Four-goal star man Kyle Davis led the way for Town, backed by strikes from Lee McBeth, Aidan West and Leigh Guthrie.

Houghton Chilton Lodge eased home 5-0 at neighbours Dubmire WMC, with all five goals coming in the first half.

Man of the match Iain Macpherson plundered a hat-trick, with Ross Meenaghan adding a double.

Durham Buffaloes Head had Gary Peart sent off in just the 20th minute - and they paid the price in an 8-1 drubbing at Birtley Coach and Horses.

Sub Ross Wilby replied to strikes from Danny Raine (2), Aaron McEwen, Alex Turnbull, Callum Turnbull, Sean Lewis, Callum Richardson and sub Liam Tannahill.

Houghton squeezed past Bishop Middleham 4-3 on penalties after a hard-fought 2-2 draw.

Daniel Grant gave the Third Division hosts an interval lead, then made it 2-0 a minute into the second period, but the Second Division visitors rallied to level, thanks to Jonathan Hornsby and John Cook.

Waldridge Park progressed with a hard-fought 3-1 win over spirited Lumley Snooker Club.

Waldridge took an early lead when Jamie Taylor ran past a couple of defenders and then rolled the ball across the six -yard box to Adam Campbell Bell, who tapped in.

Lumley levelled when striker Anth Jones neatly took down a long ball and finished well into the bottom corner of the net. Bell tapped in Waldridge’s second, after good work from Taylor, then Taylor added a late third goal, heading home a pinpoint Steve McDonald centre.

Mark Chambers shone for Waldridge, Dean Lawrence for Lumley.

Newton Hall Jovial Monk began brightly at Chester Park Inn and led with a Chris King goal, after some quick thinking at a free-kick.

But Park Inn soon got on top, dominating the game to run out 7-1 winners, courtesy of Richard Begg (3), Jak Penny, Paul Corlett, Stephen Wood and David Tyson.

Newcomers Eppleton Cricket Club were overwhelmed by Chilton WMC in a 10-0 defeat, with doubles from Kieran Harnett and Nicky Pickford supported by strikes from Leam Dent, Vinny Gash, Niall Longstaff, Kyle Wren and Byron Brown. Connor Smith starred in vain for Eppleton.

Ferryhill Celtic outgunned Durham County Seniors 5-1, with Lukas Linhart (2), Andrew Agar (2) and Liam Pearson on target, with keeper Kris Carr star man.

Ferryhill Dynamoes edged a thriller 5-4 at Sedgefield SC, Kurt Seymour volleying a memorable winner after Sedgefield rallied from 3-0 and 4-3 behind.

David Gibson, Jonathan Mason (2) and Chris Devine notched Dynamoes’ other goals.

Chester Garden Farm RAR were good 5-1 winners at Washington Jays, with Ryan Johnson (2), Jordan Gibson (2) and Tommy Wray on target.

Ouston Juniors came from two down to pip Ushaw Moor Cricket Club 4-3, with the quality and fitness of the young home side making the difference in the second half. Dean Taylor, James Richardson and Paul Taylor struck for Ushaw.

Langley Park won through 3-1 at Pittington in a game which saw a red card for both teams.

Tony Rutter, Steven Cummings and an own goal did the damage.

Premier club Brandon Sports showed no mercy in a 13-2 demolition of never-say-die Durham Federation.

Four-goal Paul Basey was backed by hat-tricks from Karl Turner and Michael Fort, with David Ford Gavin Mudd and Daniel Robinson also on target.

Sedgefield St Edmund’s cruised home 6-0 against Pelaw Grange Dogs, with Dan Newby (2), Louis Brown, Brian Fairhurst and Stephen Bagshaw following Stephen Flockett’s seventh-minute opener. Ian Johnson stood out for Pelaw.

Pelton Crown edged a tight 2-1 win at Kelloe WMC, who had Michael Hogg on target before Kris Lawton’s brace turned the tie.

High Shincliffe Avenue won 5-0 at Bearpark, whose star man was Ryan Raisbeck, while Miller Fletcher netted for Chester-le-Street AFC in a 2-1 derby defeat at Whitehills. Keeper Craig Oliver shone.

Sacriston Red Lion had Sam Renwick on target twice in a 3-2 defeat at Coxhoe Red Lion, while Jack Hodgkiss (2), Stanley Ogunsuyi, Joe Kerry, Ben Reed and Craig Mountain steered Durham County home 6-0 against Lumley, with Shaun Wilson and David Lucas the respective star men.

Washington Cricket Club beat High Handenhold Bird Inn 2-0, despite a great display by visiting keeper Tony Swift. Goalie Paul Finnigan was star man for Witton Gilbert Travellers Rest in a 10-0 drubbing from Sherburn Village.

Sacriston Cricket Club secured a 6-3 win over newly-promoted Chester Britannia in the only Premier Division match.
