Houghton Chilton Lodge were well deserved winners in their First Division derby at Houghton Wild Boar All Stars.

Lodge swept into a two-goal lead inside 15 minutes, with Ross Meenaghan’s deflected 25-yarder backed by a penalty from Craig Johnson, after Meenaghan bamboozled the right-back.

Star man Adam Hinde added a third, after Boar threatened a comeback, following a flick-on from David Firth, then Liam Lusk replied from the penalty spot after a foul by Ben Dawson.

Meenaghan made it four, latching onto a misplaced pass to round the keeper.

Dan Johnston stood out for Boar.

Washington Sandpiper lost 2-0 to visitors Whitehills, with an effort from Joseph Whelan and a good team goal, finished off by Ryan Grayson, sealing the deal. James Cattell starred.

Washington Jays pipped hosts Houghton 3-2 in a tight Third Division clash.

Houghton led with an unpressured own goal inside 10 minutes after good wing play and a drilled cross from James Carman, but the visitors’ Adam Hill struck twice in quick succession and Dan Robson converted a penalty for 3-1.

Danny Grant responded with the goal of the game, chipping Mark Fish from outside the box, but Houghton, for all their second-half dominance, could not find a leveller, although both sides had goals disallowed.

Lumley Snooker fell behind but rallied to beat Sedgefield SC 3-2, thanks to Anth Jones and two-goal Dan Young.

Houghton Town cruised to an impressive 4-0 Premier Division win at Sedgefield St Edmund’s, who conceded two goals from early corners and never recovered.

Chilton WMC rallied from 4-1 down to draw 4-4 at Newton Aycliffe WMC, whose marksmen were Wood, Megran, Cooper and Byrne. Chilton, without a recognised keeper, had Vinny Gash (2), Kieran Harnett and Dayle Taylor on target.

Ferryhill Celtic cruised to a 7-2 Second Division victory at Bishop Middleham, who grabbed two late consolations, both netted by John Cook. A thigh strain which forced off keeper Darren Bill at 1-0 did not help Bishop.

Ushaw Moor Cricket Club walloped Ferryhill Community Hub 4-0, with Craig Flowers, Dean Taylor, star man Michael Abson and Lewis Cook all notching.

Eppleton Cricket club enjoyed a fine 4-2 win at Bowburn in Division Four, with Sean McGrail and Daniel Crisp, with a well-taken 20-yarder, on target for the hosts.

Newton Hall Jovial Monk hit six first-half goals on the way to a comprehensive 8-3 win over Durham Buffaloes Head.

Adam Baister fired Monk ahead, but winless Buffaloes turned the game on its head with two quick replies.

But Russell Harris’s long-range strike, backed by David Wile’s clinical hat-trick and a second from Harris, had Monk well on top by half-time.

Wile added his fourth from Michael Dixon’s pass, then Harris completed his hat-trick from the spot before Buffaloes bagged a late consolation.

Gary Cummings, Steve Clarkson and Ross Wilby struck for never-say-die Buffaloes, with Harry Flynn starring.

Witton Gilbert Travellers Rest secured their first win, 5-3 at Durham Federation, inspired by a hat-trick from captain David Calcutt.

Craig Wheeldon added a double, with Ben Pearson, Cameron Wilson and James Allison replying.

Hilda Park edged through 4-3 after extra time against West Rainton in the first round of the Stonebridge Inn League Cup.

Rainton, whose marksmen were Jamie Bowes, Ian Brown and Andrew Hope, raced into a deserved 2-0 lead, but Hilda recovered to level, Steve Saville firing home a rebound and Chris Duke heading home a Stephen Gregory cross.

Rainton were back in front, but Marc Smith threw his head at a loose ball in the six-yard box to send the tie to extra time.

Smith then won it, heading home an Alex Robson cross. Jamie Gordon shone for Hilda, Steven Bowes for Rainton.

In the second round, High Shincliffe Avenue led at half-time but were rocked as Ouston Juniors roared back to win 4-1, with Conner Anderson’s treble, after he missed a first-half penalty, added to by Nathan Morley. Ben Dixon starred.

Pelton Crown outgunned Washington Cricket Club 8-3 after trailing early on.

Dean Stewart capped a brilliant passing move with the equaliser, then Kris Lawton’s rocket and a cool Keith Lines finish, made it 3-2 by the break.

Washington were close to levelling but Crown ran out winners with further goals from Lines, Liam Mitchell, sub Scott Simpson’s header and a brace from Ryan Warnaby. Gary McCartney (2) and Liam Young netted for the cricketers, whose star man was Gary Graham.

Bede Lodge SC were crushed 6-1 by Birtley Coach and Horses, whose clinical finishing brought goals from Aaron McEwen (3), Mark Jordan (2) and James Ward. Thomas Rutherford replied for wasteful Bede.

Ferryhill Dynamoes defeated Coxhoe Red Lion 4-2 after extra time, thanks to goals from Jonathan Mason (2), David Gibson and Kurt Seymour. Jordan Stannard hit both for Lion, who had Chris Cairns sent off.

High Handenhold Bird Inn produced a brilliant display only to lose a three-goal lead as Sacriston Cricket Club hit back to win 4-3 in the Castle Insurance Alan Smith Memorial Trophy second round.

Marc Keegan, Thomas Illingworth and Jonathan Swift had Bird on top, but Graham Embleton, John Harrison, and, in the last minute, Anthony Ward levelled before Andrew Collinson hit the visitors’ extra-time winner.

Hard-working Dubmire WMC earned a 5-2 victory at Kelloe WMC, who had Michael Hogg and Stephen Carruthers on target.

Durham County Seniors hit five goals in the final 20 minutes to sink depleted Burnside WMC 5-0, after a very tight opening 70.

Mark Wild fired a hat-trick, with sub Scott Henderson netting twice. Liam Milburn starred for Seniors, Adam Tweddle for Burnside.

Chester Garden Farm eased to a 6-1 derby win over Chester-le-Street AFC, with Richard Bestford responding to efforts from Bailey Hunter (2), Ryan Johnson, Dan Johnson, Tom Wray and Ben Mould.

Brandon Sports Club had Marcus Thompson and Steven Parnaby to thank for a 2-0 win over Framwellgate Moor WMC.

Pelaw Grange Dogs won 4-1 at Sacriston WMC, who were ahead from the eighth minute.

Craig Howlett had a goal disallowed after lobbing the keeper from 40 yards from a quick free-kick, but Jordan Stevens equalised then put Pelaw in front, direct from a corner. Daniel Igo’s superb volley and David Jeffers strike, after Chris Gosnell flicked on, put the tie to bed.

Sherburn Village defeated Ouston Cherry Tree 5-1 after going behind to Ryan Drummond’s delicate chip from the edge of the box early in the second half.

Conor Winter pulled the ball back for James Ellis to force extra time, then Sherburn took total control, with Nick Marley’s double, a Winter penalty and a second from Ellis confirming their success. Jamie Abbott shone for Sherburn, Mark Bailes for Ouston.

Durham County had Andrew Bartle (2), Joe Kerry and Jack Carr to thank for a 4-1 first round win at New Brancepeth WMC, with Chris Boyle replying.
