5-5 Trophy thriller
Lumley Snooker Club won through 5-4
on penalties after an epic 5-5 extra-time draw at home to Framwellgate Moor WMC
in the Stepy’s Coaches President’s Trophy second round.
Rob Laws and a great strike from Carl Kalugarama had Lumley two up, but
Fram hit back to lead by the break, then went 4-2 up on the restart. Anth Jones
responded, then, right on time, Dan Young broke clear to finish well, taking
the tie into an extra half hour.
Jones, put through by James Laidler, put Lumley 5-4 in front, but Fram,
who had Mark Foster (2), James Smith, Joe Grant and Liam Wrightson on target,
ensured penalties with a leveller.
Jones, Ben Haddock, Young, Laws and Kalugrama all converted from the
spot for the winners.
Newton Hall Jovial Monk rallied from three goals down to pip Bowburn 6-5
after extra time.

right on half-time rejuvenated Monk, who got the game back to 4-4 after 90
minutes, thanks to Mark Emmerson, Matt Williams (2) and Chris King.
Adam Baister’s superb solo strike, after beating four men, made it 5-4
then Graham Thompson added a sixth before Bowburn replied with a disputed, late
penalty.

stood out for Bede.

counter.

extra time, before finishing the stronger to run out 6-4 victors.

free-kick in stoppage time, hauled Ouston level in turn.
The first period of extra time was goalless, but Cornish and Anderson
soon made it 5-3.
Pittington creditably pulled one back and could have equalised, but the
hosts’ nerves were eased when Nathan Morley sealed victory.
Pittington had a defender dismissed late on for a two-footed lunge on
Anderson.

Williamson converting a controversial penalty, awarded after just 45 seconds.
